Vanessa Little or "Nessa" was an adventurer! She was always on an escapade around the world visiting family and friends, hosting a story time, or vacationing in a new place. She called her trips Nesscapades and would keep her loved ones up to date with her travels through pictures, videos, and emails. Vanessa knew everyone and had a true heart for the community through her work as a piano teacher and founder of Lil Miss Story Hour. If you had the pleasure of knowing Vanessa, it was a lifelong engagement, she never let anyone go. Our community is a brighter and better place because of her presence, joy, and passion. Vanessa was vibrant and brought her whole self to everything she did. She was an artist, activist, and advocated for marginalized identities in all of her work. The world lost an incredible person in her passing and we gained a beautiful ancestor in the process. She will always be remembered.

To honor Vanessa’s ever present legacy, Soul Haven Collective is introducing Nesscapades, a one-day immersive art retreat for BIPOC artists and activists to experience rest, joy, and replenishment. Vanessa was part of the first two retreats and made a lasting impact and inspired what the nonprofit has become today. She loved being able to rest, play, and be in community with everyone at the retreat. We invite participants to live as Vanesssa did, boldly, authentically, and enthusiastically. Nesscapades aims to present participants with unique art experiences, stress free logistics including transportation and provided meals, and a space of connection and rest.
